Week of November 19th


Week of November 19th

This week in 4th Grade

Religion- Students will be taking their Chapter 7 Religion on Monday.  On Wednesday of this week we will be traveling to ECCHS to celebrate Mass with the entire Elk County Catholic School System student body.

Math- We will continue to sharpen our Multiplication skills.  Students will be learning about finding patterns in times tables 10, 11, and 12.  There will be NO daily M.o.B. problems this week.

Social Studies- On Monday, students will be taking their Southeast States and Capitals test.  We will continue learning about the important geographical features of this region.

Science- Students will be observing rocks and minerals in Science class this week. 

English- Our English skill this week is a focus on adjectives.  Studies will be completing Thanksgiving-themed worksheets on this subject.

Reading- We will be reading books about the First Thanksgiving in class this week.  We will also be watching a movie that deals with our Read Aloud book, The Witches.  Students will be comparing and contrasting the differences.

*There is NO Spelling, Vocab, or Simple Solutions Quiz this week.  There is NO Journal due. 

*On Tuesday of this week, students will be having Play Practice from 9:00-11:00.

Our Thanksgiving Break goes from November 22nd-26th.  Students DO NOT have school on these days.  We will have our make-up day from Hurricane Sandy on Tuesday, November 27th.

Week of November 5th


This week in 4th Grade

Religion- we will be completing Chapter 6 on Jesus Christ the Son of God.  The Chapter 6 test will be on Wednesday, November 8th.

Math- we will continue working on writing number equations with variables.  On Tuesday the students will be completing the Chapter 2 Review test on Tuesday.  Our Chapter 2 Math test is on Thursday of this week.

Social Studies- the students will be learning about the Southeast Region of the United States this week.  They will be discovering the importance of the Mississippi River to this region.

Science- the students will be learning about how rocks are formed through the processes of weathering and erosion. 

Spelling- the Spelling list this week is on long and short /o/ sounds. 

Reading- we will begin our new story, Tomas and the Library Lady, on Wednesday of this week. We are also reading the story, The Witches, for our daily read aloud book. 
*On Tuesday of this week students will be participating in a Video Conference with other schools across the Diocese.  The students will be learning about the life of Saint Therese.
